Hi, there! My name is Elizabeth. I've been teaching Spanish and English since 2010 have taught virtual Spanish classes for adults through Clases Con Elizabeth since 2020.
The Clases Con Elizabeth curriculum focus on grammar, learning new tenses, conversation, and providing students with the structure of the language. With this foundation, students can then apply what they've learned in class to the vocabulary that most aligns with their own goals: Spanish for travelers, educators, healthcare workers, or for having conversations with friends, family, and community.
So then... how can students learn the vocabulary related to their Spanish goals, if classes teach the mechanics of the language and are not specialized for say, teachers or travelers?
There is no one right answer, and I would warn students to be careful with any source that claims to have it all. Language learning is a process and a journey, and several types of input and output (reading, writing, listening, speaking), are needed to gain confidence and make progress towards fluency.
The additional resources provided on this site are meant to be a piece of the language puzzle. They are designed to supplement your Spanish language classes to strengthen your vocabulary and to provide examples of language within the context of your interest.
These materials are in continuous development, so make sure to check back for updates. If you're not seeing the topic you're interested in, drop me a line! I'm always looking to provide useful resources to Spanish learners.
Have you been following along for awhile? It might be time to make the leap from reading and studying to speaking with others! Join a small group Conversation Class, or book an individual session to get your feet wet.
Happy learning!
Muchos saludos,
- Elizabeth
